Queen of the South season 5: Alice Braga teases major Teresa Mendoza change

Fans of Queen of the South were just as devastated as Teresa (played by Alice Braga) when her godson Tony Parra (Adolfo Alonso) was killed in an explosion. The fifth season will not doubt see Teresa go after the men who plotted the explosion as she continues to try and take on the cartel. Speaking about what the future holds for Teresa, actress Alice spoke about a major change for her character.

Keeping fans up to date on the latest developments for season five and reflecting on the latest run in a Q&A, Alice teased “exciting” moves ahead.

When one fan touched on Teresa wearing her white suit, the actress exclaimed: “Yes! Because it is such a big change for Teresa than when we saw her in the beginning of the show.

“I think she’s been through a lot, she was trying to avoid a lot becoming this person.

“There’s a moment that she realises there’s no escape from this.”

Alice continued: “Once you’re in, you’re in and that was pretty magical.

“Pretty magical for me to find out but pretty strong for her to face that and when she realises that, there’s no way to back off from it.”

“So I think it’s going to be an exciting change and exciting turn for her as a human being.”

As Teresa takes on more power in the next series, Alice did tease the action could land her in more trouble – perhaps life-threatening situations.

Well, if Teresa did die, it would mark the end of Queen of the South, something which Alice isn’t too certain on.

In the same Q&A on YouTube, she revealed the fate of the show is still up in the air as she waits to hear how the rest of the story will unfold.

“I have no idea, they just announced season five so I don’t know,” Alice admitted.

“We never know. It’s the kind of thing when you do a show that is played by ear.
