Manchester United are ready to battle it out with rivals Manchester City and Chelsea for Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.

The Foxes defender has emerged as a major target for United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this upcoming transfer window with plenty of top clubs interested in the £60million left-back.

The move from United will cast doubt over their current left-back Luke Shaw’s future at the club, according to the Sun.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard believed he was in pole position to sign Chilwell as part of his summer spending spree that has already seen Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech agree to join Stamford Bridge.

Lampard is still in the process of shifting more dead weight in order to sign Chilwell, with Inter Milan still closing in on a £15million deal for Emerson Palmieri.

Manchester City are also looking into signing the Leicester City man, as they search for a replacement for Benjamin Mendy – who has struggled to settle at the Etihad with several injury issues.

Pep Guardiola is hoping to strengthen his back line this summer, having noticed how much his squad miss former captain Vincent Kompany.

Losing Chilwell would be a huge blow to Leicester City, as they try and close in on Champions League football next season.

It is unknown whether qualifying for the competition would improve their chances of retaining their star left-back.

Chilwell graduated from the Foxes academy and has made 123 appearances for the Midlands-based club.

His current deal at the King Power runs until 2024, with the possibility of him following the footsteps of former Leicester defender and now Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire.
