Lucifer season 4 recap: What happened in the series 4 finale of Lucifer?

The season four finale of Lucifer was titled Who’s da new King of Hell? and saw Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) return to his true place as the ruler of Hell. Season five will premiere on Friday, August 21 on Netflix and the first eight episodes of the 16-part series will be available to stream and download in one go. Express.co.uk has a complete recap of the season four finale below.

What happened in the season 4 finale of Lucifer?

Chloe and Lucifer

At the end of Lucifer season four, Lucifer Morningstar returned to rule over Hell.

Sadly, this meant leaving behind his first love, Chloe Decker (Lauren German) on Earth.

Just moments before Lucifer left, Chloe confessed she was not afraid of Lucifer’s devil face and was in love with him.

However, she was left heartbroken when Lucifer kissed her goodbye and flew to Hell.

One of the finale’s major turning points was when it became obvious Eve (Inbar Lavi) was not Lucifer’s first love as he had been led to believe.

Lucifer was vulnerable around Chloe, losing his supernatural powers in her presence.

He fulfilled the prophecy and his demons were rebelling under their lack of leadership, meaning he had very little choice but to return.

Chloe actor German told Entertainment Tonight season five will begin with her character utterly distraught.

She said: “Chloe has no idea where Lucifer is. She’s heartbroken but has no idea how to show.

“She knows he left but doesn’t think he’s ever coming back. She’s not sure.”

She had been previously married to Adam, the first man on Earth, who left her for another woman.

Eve then arrived on Earth to chase her relationship with the devil, however, they were not meant to be.

Wanting to remain independent, Eve decided to go on a journey of self-exploration away from Los Angeles, leaving Maze behind.

Maze star, Lesley-Ann Brandt, revealed to Entertainment Tonight season five will begin with her trying to get over her break up with Eve.

Brandt said: “She’s heartbroken, we’ve all been there, and I think she throws herself into work.

“So we see her with Chloe [Lauren German] a lot because their stories are mirroring each other. They’re leaning into each other as girlfriends do.”

“And, as you guys all know, Eve does eventually come back and there’s all kinds of drama.

“I think [Maze], at the end of the season, she makes a decision that is the best for her, but she goes through that breakup, hurt, trying other things.

“She then has to confront the ex. By the end of it, she makes a decision that is the absolute best for her and the character moving forward.”

However, there is good news as Lavi has reprised her role as Eve in the fifth series.

Hopefully, her return means Eve and Maze will rekindle their relationship as they did not exactly end on bad terms.

Amenadiel and Linda

At the end of season four, Amenadiel (DB Woodside) and Linda (Rachael Harris) decided to raise their half-angel baby son Charlie on Earth.

Throughout the series, Amenadiel was adamant their baby boy would be raised in Heaven.

However, Amenadiel changed his mind after Dromos kidnapped baby Charlie from Amenadiel and Linda, in a bid to lure Lucifer back to Hell.

Dromos threatened to install Charlie as the new leader of Hell, causing Lucifer to show his devil face and banish them back to the underworld.

However, Lucifer released his presence on Earth was putting the ones he loved in danger, and he had no option but to return to where he truly belonged.
