Man Utd's win over Aston Villa proves Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has new undroppable

The 18-year-old has forced Daniel James out of the team by scoring four goals in four league starts on the spin.

He has been compared to all manner of footballing greats and expectations for the future are high.

But Greenwood is having a major impact at vital time, with United chasing Champions League qualification in addition to FA Cup and Europa League glory.

Old Trafford legend Roy Keane expressed his belief before the Premier League clash against Aston Villa that Greenwood was “forcing” Solskjaer to play him.

And Greenwood showed the “hunger” that Keane wanted to see by firing a wonderful goal in the first half of the 3-0 win at Villa Park to underline his immense potential.

The teenager will face stiff competition from Jadon Sancho if Ed Woodward manages to strike a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the England international.

But for the time being Greenwood has become an undroppable player for Solskjaer during the run in.

It seems almost baffling that he had only started four league games this season before the Premier League ground to a halt but Solskjaer’s treatment of the forward has been first class.

Crucially, Greenwood is not planning to rest on his laurels now that he has forced his way into the starting XI.

“Everyone can improve – I don’t think there is a limit really,” he told MUTV. “My main focus to improve is headed goals.

“I’ve not scored a headed goal in the first-team yet this season so hopefully it will be nice to get one of them.

“I’ve scored a few in the youth team but obviously everyone can improve, I can improve myself and I’m not anywhere near where I want to be at this time so there is a lot of work to be done.”
