Man Utd beating Aston Villa shows Ed Woodward has two simple transfer decisions to make

Manchester United beat Aston Villa 3-0 in the Premier League this evening and Ed Woodward must have had two transfer decisions made much easier by the dominant victory.

Before the match kicked off there was particular focus on Villa skipper Jack Grealish as he has been linked with a summer move to United.

The Red Devils are thought to be weighing up a £50million bid but the 24-year-old was way off the mark in this clash.

Grealish missed a glaring volley after arriving at the back post to meet a cross in the first half with the scores goalless.

The midfielder was also very slow in closing down Paul Pogba at the start of the second half as the midfielder fired home from the edge of the box.

What summed Grealish’s performance up was a run down the left side late in the match which ended with him playing a pass straight out of play.

Based on this performance, Woodward will want to think twice about splashing the cash on the Villa star.

But this is not the only match in which the former Republic of Ireland and England under-21 ace has not stepped up to the mark for his team.

United’s midfield has been cranked up a level since Bruno Fernandes’ £47million arrival from Sporting Lisbon in January and Grealish may no longer fit into Woodward’s plans.

Another transfer decision which may have been made simpler is how much Woodward should spend on Jadon Sancho.

Given the form of the current front three, Woodward should see no need to rush into meeting Dortmund’s demands.

Sancho’s price tag will drop dramatically next year as the England international enters the final 12 months of his contract.

With Greenwood blossoming into a potential world beater – there is no need to break the bank just yet.
