Fired Guardians director James Gunn writing and possibly directing Suicide Squad sequel

Fired Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is reportedly ‘in talks’ to direct the Suicide Squad sequel he was already hired by Warner Bros. to write.

If true, the supervillain flick – hitting theaters in August 2021 – would mark the disgraced 52-year-old’s successful crossover from the Marvel Comics universe to the DC Comics universe.

‘It’s not being labeled a direct sequel but as a relaunch,’ a source told THR.
