Epic Store FREE games: Three awesome new games available to download for free

Epic Games Store customers are counting down to the next batch of free game downloads. In a bid to dethrone Steam, Epic gives away a fresh batch of free games every week. This includes heavy hitters like GTA 5, Civilization 6 and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, as well as indie gems like Stranger Things 3, Overcooked and Hello Stranger. This week’s free game giveaway is particularly appealing, because fans will be able to download a whopping three games completely free of charge.

The next batch of Epic Store free games will be available to download from 4pm UK time on July 9.

This means you only have a few hours left to download the current free game, titled ‘Hue’.

Hue is described as a “vibrant, award-winning puzzle-adventure, where you alter the world by changing its background colour”.

“You explore a dangerous grey land, unearthing coloured fragments on a journey to find your missing mother.

“As obstacles match the background, they disappear, creating new and exciting puzzles – full of peril, mystery… and colours unseen.”

It’s an interesting and unique looking game that has been well received by fans and critics alike.

The three games replacing Hue on July 9 include Killing Floor 2, Lifeless Planet: Premiere Edition, and the excellent Escapists 2.

Lifeless Planet: Premiere Edition is an atmospheric adventure game played from a third-person perspective.

“While seeking life on a distant planet, an astronaut discovers an abandoned Russian town. He suspects his mission is a hoax until a mysterious young woman saves him from a strange and deadly phenomenon,” reads the official description.

“Lifeless Planet is a third-person action-adventure that features an old-school sci-fi story and spectacular environments in the spirit of classic action-adventures.

“After a hard landing on the planet, the astronaut discovers the planet that was reported to be rich with life is instead a barren wasteland. When he goes searching for his crew, he makes a more startling discovery: evidence that humans have already been to this planet years ago!

“When he comes upon a deserted Soviet-era Russian town, he struggles to make sense of his mission. Did his light-speed travel to the planet send him back in time? Or is this all some strange Cold War hoax?”

Killing Floor 2, meanwhile, is a simple but addictive first-person shooter in which players must defeat hordes of zombies.

“In KILLING FLOOR 2, players descend into continental Europe after it has been overrun by horrific, murderous clones called Zeds that were created by rogue elements of the Horzine Corporation,” Epic explains.

It features six-person co-op gameplay, as well as tower challenges and a player-vs-player mode.

Finally, The Escapists 2 is a novel strategy game in which players attempt to break out of increasingly challenging prisons.

“Risk it all to breakout from the toughest prisons in the world,” reads the official description.

“Explore the biggest prisons yet! You’ll have to live by the prison rules, attending roll call, doing prison jobs and following strict routines; all the while engineering your bid for freedom!”
