The Chase's Anne Hegerty slams ‘psychic’ contestant's clever move: ‘What’s going on?’

Bradley Walsh introduced contestants Helen, Paula, Andy and Nick to Anne Hegerty tonight on The Chase all hoping to win as much money as possible to take home. However, when Bradley and Anne found out Paula was a psychic, Bradley asked her to guess what Anne would offer. After giving her answers, Anne hit out at the psychic.

Helen, Paula, Andy and Nick all thought they had what it took tonight to take home that final jackpot earned throughout the show.

Nick was up first and when Bradley asked him what he did, he revealed he worked in sales but had also just moved house.

Nick wanted the money so he could do up his baby son’s nursery and so took the highest offer when introduced to Anne.

Anne offered Nick the option between £2,000, £8,000, and £38,000 and he opted for the 38k after an incredibly strong cash builder round.

Unfortunately, after much excitement from Nick taking the high offer, he didn’t answer a single question correctly.

Next up with Adam, who unfortunately followed a similar pattern to Nick.

Despite not taking the highest offer, Adam also didn’t answer any questions correctly in the head-to-head and was sent home.

Paula was up next, and the host, chaser, and viewers alike were fascinated by the contestant’s job after she revealed she was a psychic.

Bradley wanted to know more and Paula explained: “I talk to dead people.

Bradley asked if Paula had spoken to any famous dead people and she said she had.

Bradley said: “£6,000 on the table. Low offer what do you think Anne is going to say.”

Paula thought she was going to go really low and guessed £600, but she wasn’t far off with Anne’s actual offer of £1,000.

However, when she went to guess the high offer, Paula guessed £52k and it was in fact an offer of £52,000 leaving Bradley Walsh speechless.

Paula asked her fellow contestant Helen what she thought, and Helen said: “Well, I was going to say go for the £6,000, but after you guessed the 52 I don’t know anymore!”

The psychic decided to play it safe with the 6K and Bradley asked Anne if she thought not choosing 52k was an omen.

Anne quickly chipped back: “I have absolutely no idea what is going on on the show anymore.”

Neither did the audience, they immediately took to Twitter to discuss Paula the psychic.

One said: “If the Psychic Medium doesn’t go through… What was the point in her applying for the show if she would have known in advance or not if she’d win? #TheChase.”

And another said: “Bold move from a psychic going on The Chase. If she doesn’t get through we’ll know she aint s***.”

It came down to Paula and Helen in the final with just £7,000 in the jackpot.

However, it just wasn’t their day today and Paula and Helen were caught and sent home.

The Chase airs on ITV weekdays at 5pm.
