Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway, 53, discussed her husband Derek Draper’s current state with her co-stars Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on the ITV show today. During their chat, she said her husband’s health battle had become a “desperate situation”.
Kate’s ongoing health battle began after he contracted coronavirus in March.
Despite being coronavirus free, the virus attacked his body and has caused further health complications.
Today, the presenter clarified her husband’s situation after reports claimed he was out of his coma.
She said: “It’s so strange to still be in this situation.
“He was induced into the coma, which is what they were doing in a way to rest the lungs.
“They are no longer keeping him in the coma, but he can’t wake up.”
She added: “There’s two types of coma, there’s one where they’re completely unconsciousness and a minimum state of consciousness.
“We have no real knowledge of what he can see or hear.
“It’s a desperate situation, it’s very difficult.”
