Girl, 4, survives shattered skull from bottle thrown at 23rd floor

Four-year-old girl’s skull is shattered when she’s hit by Champagne bottle thrown by six-year-old boy on 23rd floor in Russia – but she somehow survives

  • The six-year-old was playing with friends when he hurled rubbish bags below
  • One bag contained the Champagne bottle which smashed into Omina’s skull
  • CCTV shows the moment it hit her before she collapsed in her father’s arms
  • Hospital doctors have been amazed at the ‘miracle’ girl’s speedy recovery

A four-year-old girl is miraculously recovering after a Champagne bottle that was thrown from the 23rd floor of a skyscraper shattered her skull.

Horror CCTV video footage shows the moment Omina, four, was struck while on a walk with her family in Krasnogorsk, near Moscow.

The bottle was hurled in a rubbish bag from 230ft up a high-rise residential apartment building by a six-year-old boy who was playing with friends.

Omina was rushed to hospital and underwent ‘complex’ surgery for a cracked skull.

She has since amazed Russian doctors with her recovery, Ksenia Mishonova, children rights ombudsman for Moscow region said.

Omina’s father Mikhrodzh Makhmadrazhanov, 29, a hospital doctor, said: ‘She is very weak now but speaks a bit.

‘She said: “Give me strawberries”. My poor little girl wanted to eat and have water.’

The first bag of rubbish fell mere inches in front of the child

Video footage shows Omina collapsing to the floor when hit by the bottle, mere seconds after another bag thrown by the six-year-old plunged to the ground inches away from her.

After she is hit, Omina’s father scoops her up amid the shattered glass before she slips into unconsciousness.

The child was rushed to hospital where her medics discovered her skull was broken.

The family of the child who threw the rubbish bag had not been in touch with Omina’s parents, Mishonova added.

‘The child is very small and we should understand that, of course, he did not do it intentionally,’ she said.

‘Perhaps we, adults, are guilty that we didn’t teach him some basic behaviour rules not tell him that it is not only inappropriate but can also represent a threat to people walking downstairs.’

After the incident the six year old said he had done a ‘very bad’ thing and wanted to apologise to the girl and her parents.

‘I want her to come and hit me,’ he reportedly said.

A criminal case has since been opened, and although the child is below the age of criminal responsibility his parents could face prosecution for negligence.

Mishonova said of Omina: ‘The beautiful girl is doing well. She is talking, eating, nothing is aching. She has already been out with her dad.’
