7 new 'rules' for any UK summer holiday or day trip – all families must read

Summer is finally here and Britain is beginning to re-open – meaning it’s time to start planning your next dream trip.

Many attractions are now welcoming visitors back, with plenty of measures in place to help you enjoy your travels.

So whether you plan to explore our gardens, parks and beaches, or safari parks, zoos and historic sites, you’ll be able to do so with confidence.

When out and about, we need to remember to look after ourselves, one another and the environment around us.

Below, visitbritain.com have put together a few simple ‘Know Before You Go’ steps to help all of us enjoy days out as safely as possible.

1. Check what’s open

When planning your trip, check that important facilities – like toilets and car parks – are open before you travel so you’re not caught short.

2. Look to pre-book

If you have an attraction in mind, please check online to see if you need to pre-book a time slot.

3. Don’t just follow the crowds

Some places may be extremely popular, so get off the beaten track and discover a hidden gem that you can brag to friends about. Consider leaving the car at home to cycle or walk to a local attraction.

4. Continue to social distance

Keep one metre or more apart from anyone outside your household – this not only applies to walking, but running, cycling, sitting and sunbathing too.

5. Wear a face mask

Wear your face covering at all times when on public transport like buses, trains, taxis, and minicabs.

6. Keep a bank card on you

Many outlets are currently only accepting cashless payments – and you don’t want to miss out on that ice cream!

7. Pack hand sanitiser

Take hand sanitiser with you – you don’t know where will be open for you to wash your hands.
