The Birdman is an Old Fashioned made with Chichibu Ichiro’s Blended Japanese Whisky, organic demarara sugar and dashes of orange and aromatic bitters.

There is also a starter named after Hawk – Taquitos De Tony. The flour tortillas are filled with Chihuahua cheese, fried crisp and drizzled with roastes poblano sauce on a bed of lettuce. Chicken tinga costs $13 and shredded brisket will set you back $16.

Kelly and Hawk have transformed the former Joe’s Crab Shack into a lively cantina with modern flair.

Floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the sailboats of Newport Harbor, which means guests can enjoy a drink or meal with a view.

Hawk has added action-sports energy throughout the space by collecting and displaying impressive artifacts including a surfboard from Kelly Slater, a snowboard from Shaun White, a skateboard from Lizzie Armanto, and the BMX bike from Mat Hoffman that was used to break the high-air record – along with historic photos and equipment from Hawk’s storied career.
