Tom Hanks Doesn’t Understand How People Aren’t Taking COVID-19 Seriously

Tom Hanks is willing to do whatever it takes to stop the spread of the coronavirus. As fans of his know, he was one of the first celebrities to come out and reveal that he had contracted the respiratory illness near the beginning of the year.

Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, were working on a movie down in Australia when they contracted COVID-19. They later dropped an Instagram post in which they revealed their positive diagnosis.

According to the LA Times, Hanks recently spoke with the hosts of NBC’s Today regarding his own experiences with the coronavirus. Moreover, the actor asked why there are so many people out there who aren’t taking it as seriously as they should be.

Furthermore, the actor talked about his upcoming World War II movie, Greyhound, which will start streaming on Friday on Apple’s platform, Apple TV+. According to Tom, no one knows what’s going to happen with the virus.

Hanks said to the host of the show, Hoda Kotb, that it’s important to wear masks, stay away from others, and wash one’s hands. The actor went on to say that he doesn’t understand how something so simple could be completely ignored.

Regarding his experience with the illness, Tom said he and his wife felt terrible, including body aches, which were by far the worst. The Australian government put them in the hospital and paid careful attention to their temperature due to fears of their fevers spiking to a point of no return.

According to the Academy Award winner, there’s nothing wrong with being ignorant, or rather, there is no law against it. However, he states that the virus is killing people, and that’s something the public shouldn’t forget.

As it was noted above, Tom has a new movie coming out, and he’s thankful that people will be able to see it on account of their deal with Apple TV+. Hanks added that Apple really saved the day because they had created a terrific movie that not everyone was going to see.
