Lucy Hale Fights Back Tears As She Announces Katy Keene Cancellation

Fans of the Riverdale universe have been left reeling after Katy Keene’s cancellation announcement. Lucy Hale took to Instagram to speak on the bad news and it comes as a shock to her.

It seemed that another Riverdale spin-off would automatically bring the show high-ratings. It had everything a successful formula should which included an uber-famous cast member, cameos from Riverdale stars, and even parts where the characters break out in song.

There was a 13 episode order as soon as it was announced. Yesterday, the series that is streaming exclusively on HBO Max got the ax out of nowhere.

This left fans heartbroken.

One took to Twitter to say: ‘So a show with representation and decent storylines gets cancelled but we’ve dealt with awful shows on the CW for multiple seasons.’

Another said: ‘I was NOT expecting #KatyKeene to get canceled. Someone save it, please! HBO Max? Netflix? Amazon Overlords? Hulu? Disney Plus? Someone? Like, d***.’

While this person added: ‘#ThankYouKatyKeene thank you for 13 weeks full of happiness & tears, to frustrating weeks waiting for answers, to complete happiness during eps. katy keene has been such an amazing show to support from character development to everything inbetween. i’m gonna miss it all so much.’

Allegedly, although it has no chances of airing on The CW anymore, Katy Keene has until July 31 to find a new home. Some are asking for HBO Max to pick it up.

Pretty Little Liars alum Lucy Hale took to Instagram where she got emotional about the news.

‘I was like, I don’t want to just post a picture or a caption because nothing would do justice to how I feel about ‘Katy Keene’ or how I feel with the people involved with it. Truly, one of the highlights of my life. Just such a joy from top to bottom. It’s happened a few times to me and each time it’s just heartbreaking. It’s a job that has broken my heart numerous times. This is a bad one, it’ll take some time to get over but that’s not why I’m making this video.’
