Michael Jackson daughter: Why is Paris Jackson's new movie controversial? ‘Lesbian Jesus'

Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris, has landed a huge role in a new movie. Of course, this is not an ordinary film and has sparked huge controversy in the USA. Petitions have even been launched to stop its release – but why is it so controversial?

Paris Jackson’s new movie, Habit, sees the 22-year-old portray a young, lesbian Jesus.

The gender-bending film has not only shocked fans, but also been met with controversy from groups who have called the movie “Christianphobic.”

According to the movie’s press release, the film will see “a street smart, party girl with a Jesus fetish [who] gets mixed up in a violent drug deal and finds a possible way out by masquerading as a Nun.”

Bella Throne will play this role, and actor Gavin Rossdale also stars in the controversial indie flick.

In protest to the film’s release, a petition to Warner Bros and Lionsgate was launched on Change.org with the title PREVENT THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE FILM “HABIT”.

The description read: “A new blasphemous Hollywood film is predicted to come out soon depicting Jesus as a lesbian woman.

“The film ‘Habit’ stars Paris Jackson who plays the role of ‘lesbian Jesus’.

“Distributors haven’t picked it up as of yet, so let’s please spread awareness and wake people up to the Christianophobic garbage that is spread nowadays, but is somehow accepted and praised by society.”

Despite this, others have reacted more favourably to the movie, with singer Sia tweeting out her support to Jackson.

She tweeted: “Dear @ParisJackson I love you, keep going. I believe you are a good person”

This sparked further controversy after Sia openly supported James Safechuck and Wade Robson, two men who appeared in the Leaving Neverland documentary, in which they claimed Paris Jackson’s father, Michael, sexually abused them as children.

When this was pointed out by fans, Jackson replied with a series of tweets, one of which read: “My father’s message of love and peace speaks for itself.

“Nothing can tarnish that. His legacy will continue to hold for many generations to come. Rest your heart and mind, this too shall pass.”

Michael Jackson, who denied the claims before his death, was acquitted of all charges related to allegations of sexual abuse in 2005.

The movie is being sold for distribution at present by Voltage Pictures, and it will be one of the first break-out roles for Jackson.

Her most recent acting roles saw her star as Rachel Wells on the Fox TV series Star, in which she appeared for four episodes.

After this, Jackson had a small role as Nelly in the 2018’s Gringo, which also starred David Oyelowo, Charlize Theron, Joel Edgerton and Thandie Newton.

Jackson’s latest role, The Space Between, is expected to be released soon, and stars Kelsey Grammar as a wannabe musician, while the actress has also appeared in 30 Seconds to Mars music video Rescue Me.
