TSB Bank DOWN: Users cannot login to smartphone app or website due to nationwide outage

TSB users have been left unable to login to their mobile banking app or the website, according to reports. Hundreds of TSB customers have flocked to social media to complain about the outage with the online services, which has left TSB apps not working nationwide. Online banking is also down – with users faced with an error message whenever they try to login to check their balance, make payments, transfer money, read their statements, or more.

TSB has yet to confirm the outage. However, independent website DownDetector, which tracks social media posts around a topic to monitor outages across the globe, shows close to 1,000 TSB customers complaining about network troubles every minute in the UK right now. The problems appear to have started around midday, before quickly spreading nationwide.

As it stands, TSB is listing no known issues on its service status page, which is designed to inform customers about any problems with the network or planned downtime due to essential maintenance. It currently states everything as “Available”.

On the tab around Mobile Banking – one of the biggest issues highlighted by social media users who have been left unable to access their balance – TSB states: “Make sure you’ve downloaded the latest version of the app. If you’re still having trouble logging in, please visit tsb.co.uk/online-support. You’ll find ways to get back online and a form to complete so we can get you up and running again.”

Worryingly, this isn’t the first time that TSB has suffered a colossal outage this year.

Back in April, internet banking went offline on Pay Day – leaving thousands unable to perform some of the most important transactions. When trying to access certain services, users are reporting a message being displayed that say: “We weren’t able to do that. Sorry it looks like there was an unexpected error. You should check if your request has gone through you try again.”

At the time, TSB issued a short statement on its service status, telling customers: “We’re aware that a number of our customers are reporting problems logging in to internet banking and the mobile app. We’re currently looking into this and will provide an update as soon as possible.”

However, it took a few hours for the bank to resolve the issues. Those unable to login to their Android app, iOS app or website this time will surely be hoping for a faster fix.
