The Chase's Bradley Walsh startled by surprise 'fifth contestant' interrupting quiz

Contestant Gloria during today’s edition of The Chase had some wise words of advice for her fellow teammates. She was the final player to face Shaun (The Dark Destroyer) Wallace and when her predecessors stood at the table, they all took her comments on board and returned with success.

Up first was Louise, and she managed to only accumulate £2,000 in the cash builder, which despite Shaun offering -£200  or £20,000 offer, she remained in her position.

Those watching at home saw Bradley ask the first contestant: “The word ‘Boer’ means ‘farmer’ in what European language?”

The possible answers were: “Dutch, Norwegian or German.”

“You’ve put…” Bradley remarked as answer A was lit up in green.

Michael was up after Louise and he too spent the round guessing the answers but managed to contribute £1,000 to the prize fund.

Upon his success, Shaun remarked: “All this guessing is getting on my wick.”

And it seemed viewers too were getting annoyed by the lack of knowledge present from the contestants.

“Anyone going to actually KNOW a question today? #thechase,” a viewer remarked online.

Someone else said: “They haven’t got a clue have they? #TheChase.”

“Is it me or are they really slow today #TheChase,” another wrote.

Player three, Gaynor added £4,000 to the jackpot taking the total to £7,000.

Gloria was up last and after answering five questions correctly she decided to take a gamble and go for the high offer.

“What would Brian say?” Bradley asked.

“He would say I’m not having that. You’re only here once, go for the £53,000,” she remarked which is what she did, but she failed to make it home safe.

In the final chase, the three contestants managed to get 18 steps.

“That is astonishing considering how we did in the cash builder,” Bradley commented and turned to Shaun adding: “They pulled it out of the bag there.”

But it wasn’t enough, with one opportunity to pushback which they failed to do so, Shaun caught them with 33 seconds remaining.

“They performed admirably well in the final chase,” The Chaser said.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
