Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Are Working Behind The Scenes To Stop Online Hate Speech

Ever since they moved to Los Angeles in late March, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have quietly volunteered for local charities and they have also been working on their new Archewell Foundation. Now, insiders claim that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are working behind the scenes to fight online hate speech.

According to People magazine, Harry and Meghan are supporting the Stop Hate for Profit Campaign, which is a movement that is calling for CEOs to temporarily pull their advertisements from Facebook due to the social media site showing political ads in the past that are filled with lies, misinformation, and hate speech.

“As we’ve been developing Archewell, one of the areas The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been keen to address is online hate speech, and we’ve been working with civil rights and racial justice groups on it,” revealed an insider.

The source added that during the past few weeks in particular, this issue has become even more vital. This has led to Harry and Meghan joining racial justice groups like the NAACP, Color of Change, and the Anti-Defamation League to encourage global CEOs to stand with them.

They are “calling for structural changes to our online world,” explained the source.

NAACP President Derrick Johnson praised Harry and Meghan for embodying “the kind of leadership that meets the moment.” He added that the NAACP deeply valued the Sussexes “unwavering support.”

In a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Times on June 17, a number of civil rights groups started the Stop Hate for Profit campaign. They noted that nearly 100 percent of Facebook’s profits come from advertising, so pulling advertising during the month of July would send the social media company a “powerful message.”

By pulling their advertising for an entire month, the ad said that these companies would be sending a message that their “profits will never be worth promoting hate, bigotry, racism, antisemitism, and violence.”

So far, Coca-Cola, Honda, Levi’s, Verizon, Eileen Fisher, and Patagonia have joined the boycott.

“For a long time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been working on how to move the tech industry in a more humane direction,” dished an insider. “Throughout their lives, they have both been driven by an innate need to fight injustice.”

Following the death of George Floyd in late May, another source revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have “spoken constantly with leaders and advocates.” And, all of these conversations focus on how online platforms have created conditions for the growth and spread of hatred, bigotry, radicalism, and violence.

“This is their organization in motion,” the source says. “They are committed to dealing with the here and now, the right now, and the long-term.”
