“But I don’t think that they would ever not be in each other’s lives. Not everybody, but some people, have people in their lives who they’re deeply emotionally connected to, even if they’re not the person that they’re with.
“Actually maybe the best thing to say is, or the most truthful thing to say is that there will always be an interesting story to tell about Connell and Marianne and whether or not they’re together, they will be significant to each other. Always. And, yeah, I mean, but the form it takes – who knows?” he teased.
The first season is based on Sally Rooney’s book of the same name, with both ending at the same point but the popularity of the show has left many begging for more.
If the series does return for a second series, will viewers get to see Connell and Marianne back together again or will they have been ripped apart once more?
