Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer singles out one player after Norwich FA Cup win

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed Odion Ighalo after their 2-1 win at Norwich on Saturday evening. The Red Devils booked their place in the FA Cup semi-finals after Harry Maguire’s late winner in extra time.

United striker Ighalo netted at Carrow Road with an impressive finish.

The former Watford man now has five goals during his time at United.

It remains to be seen whether United will sign the forward on a permanent deal when his loan agreement expires at the end of the season.

Solskjaer was full of praise for Ighalo after their FA Cup win, claiming the striker gives him the chance to rest the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

He told BBC Sport: “It it cup football for you, the game was not the greatest spectacle but I felt we kept the ball OK but did not threaten or create chances.

“Delighted to be in the last four and got a good workout for many of the players. Nice for Harry Maguire to get the winner.

“Many of these players did not play the last game and now have 90 or 120 minutes in their legs. We have been drawn away every round so have done well to get so far.

“We did make many changes, we still think that the players who play 120 minutes are fit enough for Brighton on Tuesday.

“I did not make it easy for the players, we had two days to prepare for this game but the rhythm and tempo was not there but we have happy to be through.

The England star was delighted to help his side out, with Maguire claiming he wants to score more in the remaining games this season.

He said: “I’m always pleased when I chip in, especially when it’s a big result in the last minute of extra time.

“I’m a bit disappointed that I’ve only scored three goals, it’s something I’m working on and looking to improve between now and the end of the season and hopefully I can carry that into next season.”
