Lucifer season 5 release date confirmed: When is the new series of Lucifer on Netflix?

Lucifer fans have been waiting over one year for Lucifer season five to drop on Netflix. Viewers had expected the fifth and final outing to premeire in May this year but sadly, the release date had been pushed back. Finally, an official release date has been confirmed by the streaming giant and it is very soon. Express.co.uk has everything you need to know.

When is the new series of Lucifer on Netflix?

Part one of Lucifer season five will premiere on Friday, August 21 on Netflix worldwide.

The fifth outing has 16 episodes and will be split into two parts.

From Friday, August 21, the first eight episodes will be available to stream and download in one go.

After months of speculation, the official release date was confirmed today (Monday, June 22) by Netflix.

For example, all 16 episode titles have been released and the cast of Lucifer have been dropping hints in interviews about what fans can expect. 

Confirming the release date news, Modrovich tweeted: “Yep… Aug 21! The rumors are true, my darling demons. #LuciferSeason5 is dropping 8.21.20. Until then, enjoy these 66.6 seconds of deliciousness. #Lucifer #LuciferNetflix #LUCIFERONNETFLIX.”

Alongside her tweet, Modrovich posted a video of Lucifer Morningstar’s best bits, including a montange of Deckerstar in their most intimate moments.

The clip also features appearances from Detective Dan Espinoza (played by Kevin Alejandro), Maze (Lelsey-Ann Brandt), Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia), Linda (Rachael Harris) and Eve (Inbar Lavi).

In the meantime, season four of Lucifer is streaming on Netflix now and the first three seasons are available to watch via Amazon Prime Video.

At the end of season four, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) returned to Hell, leaving behind his love Chloe Decker (Lauren German) on Earth. 

Exactly how Lucifer returns to Earth or how and when he and Chloe will reunite remains unknown.

Thankfully in interviews with Entertainment Tonight, Ellis and German have confirmed the fifth series will have a “happy ending”.

The new series will see the return of Inabr Lavi as Eve and Tricia Helfer as The Goddess/Charlotte.

Joining the cast for the new series is Dennis Haysbert as God and Matthew Bohrer as Donovan Glover.
