That’s according to the Library of Congress, of the battle that took place 75 years ago today, on June 21, 1945. The US defeated Japanese troops on the island of Okinawa, leading to the attack on mainland Japan and the eventual deployment of two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki about two months later. 

 

Bolton finally (finally) spills the tea

Though the Trump administration tried to stop its release, former national security adviser John Bolton is still on schedule to drop his tell-all “The Room Where It Happened” on Tuesday. In it, Bolton alleges — among so many other things — that Trump requested Chinese help to win the 2020 election.

Love is love, officially, for five years now

Friday will make five years since the US Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, making it legal in all 50 states. Though long overdue, it was a win — and during Pride Month nonetheless. Plus, the community is still processing last week’s decision protecting LGBTQ workers from workplace discrimination, which was another long-overdue victory.
