Eamonn Holmes reveals one demand to join Strictly Come Dancing line-up: 'No one else'

Eamonn Holmes, 60, has been indirectly connected to the world of Strictly Come Dancing since 2017 when his beloved wife Ruth Langsford, 60, took part on the show. Since her stint on the BBC dance show, fans have been eager to see her husband show off his talents on the dance floor, although the This Morning presenter has always been hesitant. Viewers of the popular Saturday night entertainment programme are yet to discover which famous faces will be a part of the line-up for this year’s series. However, the television personality could be amongst the cast list after revealing the one demand he would need satisfied to confirm his appearance.

Three years ago, Ruth was coupled up with professional and stalwart of the programme, Anton du Beke, 53, although the pair failed to make it to the finals.

Unfortunately, the This Morning star was knocked out during week nine of the competition, with Eamonn seen supporting her throughout his wife’s time on the show.

The former journalist has always said he would never follow in his spouse’s footsteps, but it seems he might be changing his mind.

There is still some uncertainty on how this year’s series will play out in light of the coronavirus crisis, but reports suggest bosses are still working on the line-up.

During Friday’s edition of the ITV daytime programme, the husband and wife duo were joined by trained dancer Oti Mabuse, 29, and it was during this interview the host revealed his one demand to signing up.

Asked about how the upcoming series, the professional said: “We’re all just waiting and the more the government tells us what to do, the more things we can be hopeful about.

“But production and the producers are really doing whatever they can to make sure it comes back and the priority is everyone is safe.

“We want something people will still love and look forward to watching,” Oti added before Eamonn jumped in to talk about joining the show.

“Well, you love me and I love you and if I’m ever going to be wooed onto Strictly, you know it’s you and me and nobody else,” he confirmed of his demands.

“It doesn’t float my boat,” the presenter continued, but with Oti now having won a series of the show, will Eamonn change his mind?

Viewers will have to wait and see if the television personality does join the line-up, but the rumour mill is still going into overdrive as to who else could sign up.

Although the format could be very different in terms of whether there will be a studio audience and how the couples will work together, bookmakers are still revealing their odds on which famous faces will take to the dance floor.

According to Coral bookmakers, it seems likely another This Morning star could be strutting their stuff on the BBC dance show.

Having been a supporting voice for the nation due to his financial knowledge over the past few months, Martin Lewis’ odds on joining the line-up have been slashed.

Coral bookmakers have the money-saving expert at 3-1, with his chances of winning the series at a staggering 20-1.

Spokesperson John Hill said: “Martin Lewis knows all the moves for saving money but he may have to hit the right notes on the dance floor later this year on Strictly.

“Although his odds on being a contestant have been slashed, we don’t make him one of the favourites to lift the Glitterball Trophy in 2020.”

Strictly Come Dancing is scheduled to return later this year on BBC One.
