Terry Crews Says That The Recent BLM Protests Will Affect Brooklyn Nine-Nine

UPI reported on comments from Terry Crews today in which he said that current events will definitely have an effect on the next season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

During his appearence on Late Night With Seth Meyers last night, the 51-year-old actor said he and the rest of the cast and crew had “somber talks” about what the future of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will look like in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death.

Crews portrays Sergeant Terry Jeffords, on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which follows a group of New York Police Department detectives in Brooklyn’s 99th precinct, a fictional location. Back in November of last year, the popular series was picked up for another season.

According to Crews, the unfolded events would “definitely” play a role in how they go about filming the next episodes. Of course, Terry is referring to the death of the 46-year-old man, George Floyd, who was killed by asphyxiation after a police officer held his knee on the man’s neck.

The videos shared online went viral and it didn’t take long for protests to kick off around the world. Regarding the Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast, Crews stated that he and the rest of the cast and crew spoke about it during a Zoom call.

Crews said they had a “really eye-opening conversation about how to handle this new season.” This past week, Stephanie Beatriz, his co-star, and other cast members dropped $100,000 to the National Bail Fund Network, which helps demonstrators get out of jail.

Additionally, Crews reacted to the news of Roger Goodell, the NFL commissioner, saying how he and the rest of the NFL responded poorly to the way the players complained of racial injustice. Crews said it was a lot like watching Barack Obama’s inauguration, he said he would never “see this.”

Terry has been very vocal regarding racial issues over the last few weeks, including during Gabrielle Union’s noisy departure from America’s Got Talent. Gabrielle has since filed a discrimination complaint against NBC, stating that the network is a “snake pit” of racial offenses.
