The One Show host Alex Jones, 43, has shared her difficulties after trying to get to grips with cutting her own fringe just before going on air to present the BBC programme this evening. The star filmed herself awkwardly attempting a DIY haircut, as hairdresser’s salons remain closed because of coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
Alex pointed out to her 247,000 Instagram followers she had no choice but to trim her locks, as her long fringe was beginning to cover her eyes.
In a video, she said: “This needs cutting, so I’ve got hair scissors and I’m just going to go for it.
“I just hate this gap, here, so here we go. I’m just going to do it kind of on the squiff.”(sic)
However, Alex soon realised that the task was trickier than she thought and she suffered an unfortunate blunder.

She gasped while grimacing at the mirror: “Oh god, oh no, it looks weird already, oh no!”
“Oh god, I’m just going to have to carry on,” Alex admitted, as she tried to tame her freshly cut mane with a brush.
The BBC favourite captioned the video: “Lockdown fringe… how not to do it!!!”
Elsewhere, Alex addressed another mishap she experienced with a DIY beauty approach.
The former X Factor contestant then encouraged Alex to wave at the camera, which she initially refused, before displaying her tan streaked palms.
“Look at that hand,” Rylan giggled in response.
“We had a little chat in the dressing room and she was like, ‘What can I do? What can I do?! I was like, ‘I’ll bring you something in tomorrow!’ I’ve been there, done it!”
Addressing the issue after the show, Alex wrote: “I loved him till he exposed my badly tanned mits! (Thanks for all the tips) @rylan has promised to bring some magic stuff to sort them out tomorrow.
“Jumper is @jumper1234uk, skirt is an oldie and shoes @dune_london Thanks for watching as always x”(sic)
Alex was previously told she had a “patchy” tan by her other co-presenter Gethin Jones.
The pair got onto the subject when Alex complemented his tan and said she could tell he had spent some time relaxing in the garden.
Gethin then admitted in response: “Although I don’t know if it’s the makeup I just did.”
Alex added: “Mine’s fake and yours isn’t.”
Gethin then cheekily laughed and quipped: “Yours is patchy!”
