Money Heist season 5 theories: Berlin confirmed as alive in major Palermo clue

Berlin (played by Pedro Alonso) is a much-loved character amongst Money Heist fans despite his despicable behaviour. He raped a hostage in season two of La Casa De Papel and killed several members of the police force as well as torturing hostages too. However, fans have fallen for the softer side of Berlin which was shown in seasons three and four. Could he be about to make a shock return?

Berlin was shot several times many times by police as he helped the gang escape the Royal Mint of Spain.

While his body was never shown, viewers accepted that he was dead. However they were thrilled to get an insight into his past through a series of flashbacks.

In season three and four he met with his brother The Professor (Alvaro Morte) in Italy and revealed he would be marrying Tatiana, a musician.

The latest series showed the two getting married while he was also seen planning a heist on the Bank of Spain with Palermo (Rodrigo De la Serna) – who was actually in love with him.

The flashback sequences revealed why The Professor was so keen to target the Bank of Spain for the second heist as his brother had been planning it for years.

It also explained why The Professor enlisted the help of Palermo to help lead the heist from inside the bank.

Even if Berlin wasn’t killed by police in season two, it’s likely he would have died due to a rare genetic disorder called Helmer’s myopathy.

Berlin was seen taking medication for the disorder before his apparent death and he revealed he didn’t have much time left to live.

Furthermore, fans will remember Berlin telling Palermo: “I’m confident that one way or another, time will bring us back together.”

Perhaps he is The Professor’s secret weapon to helping getting the gang out of the bank.

It comes after Stockholm star Esther Acebo hinted her character could end up abandoning the gang if she makes it out of the heist alive.

Stockholm joined the gang after falling for Denver (Jaime Lorente) in season one and they decided to raise her baby, Cincinnati, together.

She agreed to help free Rio (Miguel Herrán) by staging another heist with the gang but now she’s in the bank, it seems she is having second thoughts as she has witnessed another side to Denver.

Speaking at the Chelsea Film Festival last week, she hinted she will reunite with Cincinnati and look to start afresh.

“She’s going to stick to the more traditional route and choose to come out alive and find Cincinnati, but who knows?” Esther theorised.

Money Heist seasons 1-4 is available to stream on Netflix now.
