The rapper has been sharing a different perspective on the current Black Lives Matter protests in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death at the hand of yet another case of police brutality. Lil Wayne followed his previous controversial comments with a retelling of how a white cop saved his life at the age of 12.
As you might be aware, amid massive criticism of the police force, Lil Wayne has been defending officers.
Earlier this week, the rapper faced some backlash for suggesting that the BLM activists are to blame as well for Floyd’s senseless killing in broad daylight.
Now, while on Young Money Radio on Apple Music, he doubled down on his thoughts on the police amid the nationwide outcry for equality in the United States by sharing a personal experience.
‘My life was saved when I was young. I was 12 or something, I think. Shot myself. I was saved by a white cop, Uncle Bob. So you have to understand … you have to understand the way I view police, period. I was saved by a white cop. There was a bunch of black cops jumped over me when they saw me at that door, laying on the floor with that hole in my chest.’
The man went on to recall that ‘He refused to. He said, ‘I found this baby on this floor. I need to get to a hospital.’ He didn’t wait for an ambulance. He took his car. He made somebody drive it, and he made sure that I lived.’
However, the rapper did mention that not all his personal experiences with the police have been positive.
He then stated, in part, that ‘I’m from New Orleans, 17th and High Grove. We have a thing called Jump Out Boys, uptown New Orleans. That’s the police. They pull up on you, they already got their door cracked. It look like when a clown pull up in a small car and 30 of them get out the car, like 30 clowns. So many of them jump out, and they ain’t coming running up to you to ask you what’s your name and how you doing and how’s your day.’
After also recalling a more recent experience he had with a white pilot calling the police on him even though he was flying the rapper’s own plane, he addressed the general public, asking them not to judge him for having a better opinion of policemen than most.

In conclusion, he stressed that everyone has their own experiences with anything in life so they should try and not judge him for what he’d said before.
