While there is no longer a guarantee of it happening this week, there is still a good chance that a new Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone update is being released this week. Both the popular paid multiplayer experience and free Battle Royale spin-off are expected to be patched this month in a big way across platforms. The main part of this will be the release of Call of Duty Season 4, which will be showcased by new maps, modes, weapons and a Battle Pass. There could also be new map changes made in COD Warzone, while Activision may also decide to share news regarding the new Call of Duty game after the Season 4 launch.
There have also been plenty of rumours covering what could be changing on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Interesting hints have been found in the game files that suggest the Vardansk Battle Royale map could be altered.
New sound files of ice cracking, have been linked to the Dam being destroyed, which is something that could dramatically change the layout.
Meanwhile, Modern Warfare gamers will get access to a new range of weapons, skins and maps, with the Battle Pass offering new cosmetic options.
This will reportedly include new melee weapons, although it’s unclear if these will come to both Modern Warfare and Warzone.
But while we know that Modern Warfare Season 4 is coming in a future update, we no longer know when it will be arriving.
Following Activision’s original announcement regarding the next Call of Duty Modern Warfare update, developers Infinity Ward confirmed that COD Warzone Season 4 had been delayed indefinitely as part of the company’s response to the ongoing global protest regarding racial injustice.
The studio has chosen to delay the Call of Duty launch, telling fans on PS4, Xbox One and PC: “While we all look forward to playing the new seasons of Modern Warfare, Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile, now is not the time.
“We are moving the launches of Modern Warfare Season 4 and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 to later dates.
“Right now it’s time for those speaking up for equality, justice and change to be seen and heard. We stand alongside you.”
Recent reports shared by data miners suggest that Infinity Ward may choose to release the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare update this week.
This would mean COD Season 4 launching across all platforms at around 7am GMT in the UK, on June 10, 2020.
Meanwhile, Modern Warfare gamers in the United States would see the patch go live at around 11pm PT.
For now, there is no guarantee that a Modern Warfare update will be released this week, and this recent news should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Developers Infinity Ward has yet to confirm its plans for Season 4 but the good news is that this information should be shared before it goes live.
And while it might not give everything away, it could provide some much-needed clarity on what to expect in the future.
