The Steam Store is the home of many developers first projects, and there is a seemingly never-ending stream of free horror games to try. Whether the games is surprisingly good, or unfortunately underwhelming, it takes a lot of guts to post your game on Steam for the world to try.
Keeping in mind, of course, that these are FREE horror games available on Steam means that we need to calibrate our expectations accordingly. However, I have played free horror games that were worth paying money for, and I have played free horror games that probably shouldn’t be on Steam at all. Just because something is free doesn’t necessarily mean its worth your time. But every now and then I find myself pleasantly surprised by how creative new developers can get, and one of the interesting things about having access to free horror games is that you never know what you’re going to get.
