Lana Del Rey Doubles Down On Her Recent Post — Promotes Her New Book

Lana Del Rey has recently come under fire for a post that she made yesterday where she named other female artists and asked to be able to make her music without being accused of glamorizing abuse. After the internet ripped her apart for bringing up other women to make her point, she has decided to stand strong about what she said.

Lana, who’s been relatively quiet lately, confused those on social media when she named Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat, Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, and Kehlani when trying to make a slam the backlash she receives.

Although she insisted that she mentioned these women as a compliment, it seemed that she was feeling bitter that they were able to go number one on the Billboard charts instead of her.

Many people also brought up the fact that all but one of the artists she named are women of color who receive more criticism than her. Most social media users agreed that if she wanted to speak about her struggle she could’ve done it without mentioning the other women.

The alternative singer took to Instagram again to speak on the reaction she received.

It read, in part: ‘Despite the feedback I’ve heard from several people that I mentioned in a complimentary way, whether it be Ariana[Grande] or Doja Cat—I want to say that I remain firm in my clarity and stance in that what I was writing about was the importance of self-advocacy for more delicate and often dismissed, softer female personality, and that there does have to be room for that type in what will inevitably become a new wave/3rd wave of feminism that is rapidly approaching.’

She went on to acknowledge that she could have added more context but went on to call those who have a problem with it are ‘super trump/pence supporters or hyper liberals or flip flopping headline grabbing critics [who] can’t read and want to make it a race war.’

Ultimately, Lana ended up promoting her book of poetry that she is releasing.
