Dwayne Johnson Is ‘Very Proud’ Of Daughter Simone After She Signs With WWE

Fans of WWE remember Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as being one of the biggest stars the brand has ever seen, and now his family’s wrestling legacy is going to continue thanks to his 18-year-old daughter, Simone Alexandre. Johnson recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and he gushed over the fact that his daughter is following in his footsteps and signed with the company that made him a household name.

On February 10, WWE announced that they had officially signed Simone and she had begun her training at the Performance Center in Florida. This makes her the first fourth-generation star in the sport’s history, as her great-grandfather “High Chief” Peter Maivia and her late grandfather Rocky Johnson are both in the Hall of Fame. Of course, her dad was also a 10-time WWE world champion.

Speaking with Fallon, Johnson revealed that Simone has already signed her contract and that blows his mind.

“First of all, what an honor that my daughter wants to follow in my footsteps but more importantly, follow in my footsteps sounds cliché, but she actually wants to create and blaze her own path, which is so important,” said Johnson.

The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star is the father of three, and he shares Simone with his ex-wife, Dany Garcia. Johnson also revealed during the interview that Simon is now the WWE’s youngest signee in the company’s history, and she has been working towards this goal for two years.

“She’s 18 now, at 16 she was working her a** off quietly under the radar, in the ring getting thrown around, you know all the bumps and bruises that go with pro wrestling,” said Johnson. “But she hung in there, and I’m very very proud of her.”

After WWE announced that they signed Simone, she said in a statement that it means “the world” to her, and to know that her family has a special connection to wrestling makes it “really special.” Simone added that she is grateful for the opportunity, not just to wrestle but to carry on her family’s legacy.

WWE executive vice president Paul “Triple H” Levesque says that Simone Johnson’s “unbridled passion and incredible drive” earned her a coveted training spot with elite athletes. Not only does she have the opportunity to cultivate and display her passion for WWE at the Performance Center, but she will also carry on the tradition of her incredible family while creating her own impact.
