Assassin's Creed Discovery Tours Are Free For A Week

Now, more than ever, I appreciate how tough it can be to fill a child’s day with interesting and educational activities. And as someone who loves games and recalls scheming for ways to max out my available screen time, I know that convincing parents to let you play can be tricky. Ubisoft has made some of its education-oriented content available at no cost, which could possibly make either of those scenarios I outlined a little easier.

From now until May 21 at 1 p.m. (your local time), you can download the PC versions of the Discovery Tours for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Origins. If you’re not familiar with the tours, these reframe the game worlds, removing combat and missions, but allowing the player to interact with NPCs and learn about the history behind the games. Many of them are narrated, and they provide a fascinating glimpse at what life was like in Greece and Egypt.

For a little more info on how Ubisoft decided to create these tours, check out a feature I wrote before the first one was released, where I spoke with Origins’ creative director and the studio’s in-house historian.

You can download both Discovery Tours on PC by registering here.
