Leah Messer revealed that seven years ago when she claimed she had a miscarriage on Teen Mom, it was not the truth! As it turns out, in reality, she had an abortion at the time and now she is finally ready to open up about it!
At the time, she was pregnant with what would have been her and then-fiance, Jeremy Calvert’s first child, and during an episode of Teen Mom, she got candid about supposedly suffering a miscarriage.
However, in her new book titled Hope, Grace and Faith, Leah wrote that in reality, it was not a miscarriage but an abortion.
As for the reason why she lied about it back in 2013, she explains that some people close to her, including her mother, urged her to.
Leah tells People that ‘I had very low self-esteem at that point in my life and I 100 percent allowed others to control my decision making. I truly, wholeheartedly, felt as if I convinced myself of that [having a miscarriage].’
She was already the mother of twins Aliannah and Aleeah who were only 2 and she and their dad, Corey Simms were divorced.
Soon after the split, she began seeing Jeremy so when she found out she’d gotten pregnant with him, she was still struggling with her feelings for Corey.
That is when she decided to take abortion pills.
Leah went on to admit that ‘Looking back now, I wish I would’ve owned it. I wish I would have owned what was going on. [I wish I had not been] fearful of what everybody was going to say. But I am not going to dwell on the decision I made at that time. I am going to rise above the decision that I made and learn from that experience.’

Eventually, she and Jeremy still ended up welcoming a child together in February of 2013 – Adalynn.
