While it’s really important for people to practice social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic, when their father passed away, Teresa Giudice and her brother Joe Gorga pressed pause on their isolation in order to give him a proper send-off. As you may know, the siblings organized a memorial for him anyway, in spite of all the risks and now, one insider report claims to know the reason why!
For some time now, gatherings featuring 10 or more people have been prohibited in an attempt to flatten the curve and to slow down the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
However, Teresa and Joe ignored the rules when it came to having a memorial for their dad, Giacinto Gorga.
While having a big funeral was not possible, of course, they had a small ceremony that was attended by the man’s 7 grandkids in addition to his own children.
Giacino died on March 3 and he was 76 years old.
The source dished via HollywoodLife that ‘Despite the social distancing orders, it was very important for them to come together and celebrate Nonno as a family. It is such unfortunate timing, but the family really wanted to be together and could not imagine being apart.’
Teresa took to social media to post a clip that showed her four daughters as well as Joe’s three kids all dressed in black releasing white doves while Andrea Bocelli’s Con Te Partiro was playing.
In the caption, she wrote: ‘Today we set you free, fly high to Mommy.’
The source also shared that ‘Teresa and Joe had been seeing each other at the hospital before their dad actually passed even during social distancing. They didn’t want him to be alone. The kids and everyone else had been apart since Melissa has been in quarantine with her family.’

The memorial was also the first time for the cousins to see each other face to face since the quarantine was put in place.
