The supermodel fondly recalled helping the late Princess Diana with a surprise for her older son, Prince William years back! At the time, William was still a teen and Naomi Campbell shared the experience with fellow OG model, Cindy Crawford during a live chat that was part of Naomi’s new YouTube series titled No Filter with Naomi.
Apparently, the surprise happened when William was only 13 or 14 years old and it was actually for his birthday!
‘I went with Claudia [Schiffer] and Christy [Turlington]. He was coming home from school and we’d gotten there before he’d gotten home from school and Princess Diana was just like, ‘Okay.’ So, we were like, ‘What do we do?’ I mean, it was so sweet,’ she shared with Cindy during their quarantine chat.
Naomi stressed that she felt ‘blessed’ to meet Lady Di prior to her tragic accident in 1997.
Just like pretty much everyone else, Naomi stated that ‘[I] Loved Princess Diana, just loved her. Humble, how so down-to-earth and I am just blessed to know her for the time that I did.’
As it turns out, Naomi was not the only one to meet the royals as her partner of discussion had her own experience and story as well.
Crawford recalled that the meeting that took place at the palace was really overwhelming to the point that she found herself blushing.
‘I think he was 16 when I met him. I don’t remember [if he blushed] but I was blushing. I was so intimidated to meet Princess Diana and being at Kensington Palace and how completely down-to-earth she was because there is so much protocol I guess, and not being English, I do not understand some of it.’
Cindy also mentioned that Diana was so warm and welcoming that it ultimately made her feel like she was just visiting a friend.
