Queen Elizabeth Avoids Shaking Hands At Event Amid The Coronavirus Danger

The Queen of England is taking the Coronavirus very seriously to the point that even the usually rigid royal customs are getting modified. Well, one in particular!

Queen Elizabeth II refused to shake hands to greet Sri Lankan High Commissioner Saroja Sirisena and her husband.

She was caught on camera at the Buckingham Palace yesterday, skipping the customary handshake for the sake of her health and safety.

After all, it’s know that the virus is mainly dangerous to the point of being deadly towards the sick and the elderly so it makes sense that the Queen is takin the proper precautions.

On Tuesday, her meeting with Sri Lankan High Commissioner Saroja Sirisena and husband, Dr. Sudath Talpahewa happened in front of an audience and the moment they all met was caught on camera so it soon became obvious that Queen Elizabeth was not shaking anyone’s hand.

And that was not the first time she forewent the greeting! The say before she was once again seen doing the same with other officials and guests at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.

Furthermore, her Highness was wearing gloves the whole entire time for an extra layer to protection from direct contact with the COVID-19.

It’s safe to assume that she was wearing those for safety since it’s apparently not common at all to have gloves on at investiture ceremonies.

While the Queen is obviously being very careful about the pandemic, her grandson, Prince William is not very worried.

While he was in attendance at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin with Kate Middleton earlier this month, he joked that: ‘I bet everyone’s like, ‘I’ve got coronavirus, I’m dying,’ and you’re like, ‘No, you’ve just got a cough.’ It does seem quite dramatic about coronavirus at the moment. By the way, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are spreading coronavirus. Sorry. So we’re keeping an eye on that, so do tell us if we need to stop.’
