Google Home could get a feature it should have had years ago

One of the most underrated features of the Google Home is certainly its ability to broadcast messages. With the simple command “okay Google, broadcast”, users are able to record a message that will be beamed to all other Google Home and Google Nest devices in your household.

The only problem with the feature is the fact you’re only able to broadcast a message to all other smart speakers and smart displays in your home.

That means if you want to relay a message to your significant other late and night, you also risk waking your kids if they have a Google Home in their bedroom. Not ideal.

“How come no one’s talking about this?! I can’t be the only one to have it… As far as I know, it’s new from today for me. I scrolled through the posts and did a search, but I can’t see anyone else mentioning it.”

Corroborating those claims, another Google Home owner added: “Yep I can confirm this works I discovered this just yesterday I’m delighted I’ve been saying for ages you should be able to do this.”

While some Google Home owners are able to access the new feature, it doesn’t appear to be available for everyone yet. It’s certainly possible the Mountain View firm is rolling it out gradually.

To activate it, all you need to do is say “okay Google, broadcast to…” and then utter the name of the smart speaker you want to relay your message.

This is certainly a feature Google should have introduced alongside the ability to broadcast years ago. Nevertheless, users will certainly be glad it appears to finally be making its debut.

Express.co.uk will update you as and when we hear more about the new feature’s rollout across the globe.
