Carrie Symonds pregnant: Is Boris Johnson & fiancé’s baby a boy or a girl? Gender clues

Boris Johnson and his new fiancé Carrie Symonds today announced that they are expecting their first baby together. The little one is due to arrive in “early summer”.

However, there are some other clues that could point to whether the next Johnson will be a boy or girl.

According to WhatToExpect.com, the position of the bump can be a huge indicator as to what gender the baby will be.

The baby experts say: “If you’re carrying in your hips, you’re having a girl. If you’re carrying in your belly, you’re having a boy.”

While no images of Carrie’s bump have been released yet, eager members of the public will have to keep their eyes peeled to see if they can take a guess as to what the little one will be.

Parents.com also say other changes to Symond’s appearance throughout the pregnancy could indicate whether she is having a boy or girl.

“If your face gets fuller, it means you’re having a girl,” says one old wives tale listed on the website.

It adds: “If you’re carrying a baby in front, it’s a boy. Is the baby weight spaced all around your middle? It’s a girl.”

There are plenty of other “old wives tales” which have been popular ways of guessing the gender of unborn babies for many years.

The way that Carrie finds herself sleeping could be a huge determiner of what the baby is, meanwhile how well she has felt during the early months could also be a signifier.

According to Parents.com: “If you prefer sleeping on your left side, you’ll have a boy. Right side? Your pregnant with a girl.”

Meanwhile, Web MD states: “Studies have found that women with a severe form of morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum are more likely to give birth to girls. The reason? Levels of the pregnancy hormone hCG, which triggers morning sickness, tend to be higher in mothers who are pregnant with female babies”

The experts say: “You certainly can have fun experimenting with the many old wives’ tales that focus on baby gender prediction.

“But while these techniques are fun for family gatherings, each has about a 50/50 chance of being correct — odds that aren’t so great if you’re using that particular method to pick out the nursery’s colour scheme.”

Of course, until there is confirmation from the couple themselves, it seems the public will have to wait until the due date to find out whether the prime minister will have another son or daughter.
