On Monday, Melania and her husband arrived in India for a short two day trip. During their trip, the Trumps visited the Taj Mahal, as well as the home of India’s independence leader Mahatma Gandhi. The US President also attended a rally with Prime Minister Modi at the Motera cricket stadium Ahmedabad, where he addressed a large crowd of enthusiastic locals.
On Thursday, the First Lady took to twitter to thank her hosts for their warm hospitality.
She tweeted: “Thank you @narendramodi for welcoming me and @POTUS to your beautiful country.
“We were delighted to receive such a warm welcome from you and the people of India!”
However, critics were quick to take to the social media airwaves to lambast and berate the President’s wife.
One wrote: “The majority of the world wishes the plane would crash and burn every time you and Impotus45* get on it.”
A second tweeted: “You were so delighted that you didn’t eat the specially prepared vegetarian menues which were lovingly prepared for you.
“Strange way to show your delight!”
And a third blasted: “Is there such a thing as a @twitter stutterer?

“Alas u should listen to the screams of the dying ones.
“How can u people sleep at night.”
Another posted: “Ahhh….so cute. I guess the pogroms, detention centers and dead Muslims in the streets didn’t cloud your view. Precious.”
But the First Lady also had her admirers, who were quick to jump to her defence and praise her for all the work she was doing on behalf of her country.
One commented: “We love you first lady and president Trump.
“Your contributions in India-US ties will be always remembered.”
Another enthused: “Melania, you’re just plain COOL! Thanks for being our FLOTUS, YOU ROCK!”
While a third gushed: “We Love “OUR” FLOTUS! Truly a Wonderful and Gracious Lady.”
A fourth tweeted: “Thank you for being so gracious, ma’am.”
