Joe Biden Gets Powerful And Emotional Endorsement From Civil Rights Icon James Clyburn Who Spoke About His Late Wife, Emily Clyburn

Rep. James Clyburn has decided he is no longer going to stay silent and has come forward to explain why he has decided to endorse Joe Biden for president.

The famous politician from South Carolina shared an emotional story about his late wife, Emily Clyburn’s appreciation for Biden and all that he stood for in the past and all that he is fighting for.

Clyburn, who was jailed for helping organize many civil rights marches and demonstrations, praised Biden at a moving news conference in North Charleston by saying: “We often talked about the leadership of this country, and there is nobody who Emily loved as a leader in this country more than she loved Joe Biden. I’ve been saying to the media, I’ve known for a long time who I’m going to vote for. But I had not decided — well, not to share it with the public. But I want the public to know that I’m voting for Joe Biden. South Carolina should be voting for Joe Biden.”

Mr. Clyburn, the highest-ranking African American in Congress, also encouraged others to vote for former vice president during the Democratic primary.

The South Carolina Democrat said: “I’ve known for a long time who I was going to vote for. I’m voting for Joe Biden. South Carolinians should be voting for Joe Biden. We know Joe. But more importantly, he knows us.”

The lawmaker said he made the decision to go public after an 80-year-old woman spoke to him at the funeral of his accountant last week and asked him who he will vote for?

He claimed: “‘I’ve been waiting to hear from you. I need to hear from you. This community wants to hear from you. I decided then and there that I would not stay silent.”

The South Carolina congressman went on to reveal: “I wondered whether or not we were doing the right thing, — but I was never fearful of the future. As I stand before you today, I am fearful for the future of this country. We don’t need to make this country great again. This country is great. That’s not what our challenge is. Our challenge is making the greatness of this country accessible and affordable for all. That nobody with whom I’ve ever worked in public life is any more committed to that motto, that pledge that I have to my constituents than Joe Biden.”
