Taylor Swift Becomes The Man In New Feminist Video About Gender Inequality And Sexism — Takes Shots At Male Privilege

Taylor Swift is going viral for her new song and video “The Man” which is off her Lover album. The song quickly climbed to the top of YouTube where it sits at number one with over six million views. The song is a feminist anthem that reflects many of the issues Taylor has had with a male-oriented music industry as she asks the question if her life’s musical career and path would have been easier had she been a man. Taylor dons a suit, makeup, and transforms into the video’s title character and the look is uncanny. Taylor has been challenging the musical industry for sexism for years and she shows no signs of ever backing down.

Taylor Swift also directed the video that features an alpha male getting away with sexist and rude behavior. It appears she references Kanye West in one clip, Serena Williams in another. She specifically mentions Leonardo DiCaprio in the song’s lyrics. “The Man” is Taylor Swift’s directorial debut.

Taylor Swift shared photos and video clips from the video on her stated the following.

“Just sitting here pondering how happy I am that The Man music video is OUT. At the end of the video, Taylor Swift shows the metamorphosis she underwent in order to transition into the man.

She also reveals, in the ending credits, that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson voiced Taylor’s male character in the video.
