Tenerife coronavirus: ‘Panicking’ British tourists get NOTHING from UK amid hotel lockdown

Hundreds of guests are facing an anxious few days in lockdown in a hotel in Costa Adeje in Tenerife following an outbreak of coronavirus, or COVID-19. The Costa Adeje Palace hotel was quarantined after an Italian doctor and his wife tested positive. British tourists Hannah Green and Court Amys told ITV’s Good Morning Britain that they were stuck in the hotel, worried for their “fragile” young son, having received no advice from the UK consulate on what to do.

When asked if they were “worried” about the spread of the virus, Ms Green said: “Massively, I’m really worried, really panicked, to be honest.”

Mr Amys added: “More for our son. He’s only one, he’s quite fragile.

“I’ve been out of the room twice to go for a walk.

“There are loads of people out wandering, everyone’s wearing masks.”

He continued: “This morning I’ve been down, and they’re a bit more strict now, telling people to get back to their rooms.

“The front door is completely locked down.”

They confirmed that they’re all feeling okay and not experiencing any symptoms.

The latest letter given to guests says the hotel will stay in quarantine until further notice.

The Italian couple that tested positive have been isolated in a hospital.

They’re from Lombardy, the region at the centre of the Italian outbreak.

It’s main city is Milan where the cathedral has shut and the streets are noticeably quieter.

Italy now has hundreds of cases of the virus and in Rome there are worries tourism will be badly affected.

As the virus spreads, the World Health Organisation is warning countries to be prepared.
