Greta Thunberg heartbreak: Activist in devastating Instagram update – ‘Miss him terribly’

The climate activist took to Instagram, revealing that Olof Thunberg had “passed away”. She posted: “Yesterday my grandfather Olof Thunberg passed away. He was about to turn 95. He was one of the kindest people I have ever known. We miss him terribly.”

The 17-year-old from Sweden also took to Twitter to post a series of heartfelt photos of her grandfather.

She said that her grandfather was “one of Sweden’s biggest actors”.

Beginning his career just after the war, Olof Thunberg worked as a director, actor and voice artist over a 75-year-long-career.

Olof acted in films and TV shows and later progressed to direct TV movies.

His most notable role involved his voice acting on the Swedish version of Disney’s The Jungle Book. Olaf played the role of the tiger Shere Khan in the film.

When her grandfather died, Greta was in Oxford meeting one of her ‘role models’ Malala Yousafzai at Lady Margaret Hall.

Posting on Twitter, Malala said: “She’s the only friend I’d skip school for.”
