Late last year, a designer and eagle-eyed patent researcher Elias Adams unearthed a new headphone design patented by Apple that gives a pretty strong indication of what an over-ear pair of AirPods could look like.
The patent filed with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) was first published in May and reveals over-ear headphones with a collapsible headband.
Adams has cooked-up some stunning high-resolution renders of the patented headphones, revealing what an over-ear pair of AirPods could look like. The renders reveal the cups are set to be covered in a soft fabric-like material, which should keep your ears cool even while listening on a stuffy Tube in the morning, or at the gym.
To add fuel to the AirPods X rumour fire, it’s claimed a big Apple event could be in the pipeline. In fact, a report from German website iPhone-ticker.de is speculating that Tuesday, March 31 will be the date Apple fans will want to pop in their diaries.
