Trump humiliation: US President posts controversial tweet amid violent India protests

The President was visiting India to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an ally of Trump’s. The pair visited Delhi on Tuesday, while protest scenes took place only a few miles away.

Yet Mr Trump seemed unfazed by the uproar as he continued to post away on his Twitter account.

Angered Muslim protesters took to the streets to voice anger against the proposed Indian citizenship law.

The riots have been labelled “Delhi’s night of horror” as Muslims clashed with police and Hindus

So far, CNN reports 13 are dead, including a police officer, and 150 have been hospitalised.

Indian police have claimed Muslim protesters were throwing rocks, though protesters say the demonstrations were nonviolent.

There has been a spate of nationalist violence timed to greet the arrival of the President of the United States and his embrace of the Prime Minister.

Tweeters expressed their outrage at the US president after alleged footage of a stadium emptying during President Trump’s speech circulated.

It comes after Trump came under fire for his thoughts on the “novel” coronavirus” which he believes “will go away.”

During his trip to India, the President said “I think that’s a problem that’s going to go away,”

Trump said of the virus, which has expanded this week in Italy, Austria, Croatia, and Iran.

In that news conference, the President insisted that “they have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine.”

Despite there being no evidence that a vaccine is “close,” in fact, most infectious disease experts say developing a vaccine for the virus is roughly a year away.

Trump also claimed in the news conference that ALL the US coronavirus patients “are getting better … they’re all getting better.”

Then he tweeted early Tuesday morning in India: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”
