Man Utd and Chelsea dealt big transfer blow as Jadon Sancho twist revealed

Manchester United and Chelsea are weighing up a summer move for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho but the 19-year-old is considering remaining in the Bundesliga, according to reports.

Express Sport understands Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thinking about making a raid for the England international at the end of the season.

Sancho will likely demand a nine-figure fee and United have the financial muscle to complete such a blockbuster transfer.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is also keen to bolster his attacking ranks and will be backed after coming through a two-window transfer ban.

Sancho, who left Manchester City three years ago, admitted at the start of the season that he would like to return to the Premier League.

But according to Ruhr Nachrichte, the teenager is considering remaining at the Westfalenstadion.

There is one positive for Man Utd and Chelsea in the new reports as Sancho may only extend his stay at Dortmund by six months.

That means his transfer value will slightly decrease as he edges closer to the end of his contract, which expires in 2022.

Interest will remain high and he will have most of the power in his hands.

Sancho has scored 16 goals and registered 18 assists in his 32 appearances this season.

Meanwhile, transfer expert Duncan Castles reckons the Dortmund star would more likely end up at Old Trafford over Stamford Bridge.

“There’s an indication that Dortmund are ready to sell in the summer, they’ve got the development they think they can get from him, they’ve raised his value to the point where they think they can get over €100m,” he said.

“The agents are trying to get the best environment for Sancho.

“With [Hakim] Ziyech signing for Chelsea, it makes it difficult for Chelsea to sign Sancho. [Frank] Lampard was opposed to bringing Sancho in the January window and didn’t want that scale of transfer to be associated with him as his first big deal at Chelsea.”

And Sky Sports expert Jesco von Eichmann thinks the youngster will return to his home country at the end of the season.

“He will leave Dortmund this summer, that’s for sure,” he said. “It’s not clear to which club he will change.

“Manchester United is one of the big clubs that are interested, that I’ve heard.

“Michael Zorc, the director of Dortmund, said last week in an interview that he hasn’t had an offer for Jadon Sancho yet. Today, I asked him again, and he just smiled!

“There will be some offers for Sancho in the future. He is improving. He was very tired at the end of the first part of the season but now he’s very fit and performing very good. He improved his behaviour.”
