Arsenal contract talks with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stall, star could leave this summer

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could leave Arsenal this summer after talks with the club over a new contract stalled, transfer expert Nicolo Schira claims. The Gabon international has been sensational for the Gunners this time out. Aubameyang has netted 17 Premier League goals and is joint top of the scoring charts.

The 30-year-old is out of contract next summer, with Arsenal hoping to tie down the former Borussia Dortmund star.

Aubameyang has been linked with a move to La Liga, with Barcelona and Real Madrid said to be eyeing the forward.

And Schira says talks over a new contract with Arsenal have stalled, adding Aubameyang could be sold in the summer.

He wrote on Twitter: “Negotiations for contract renewal between #Arsenal and #Aubameyang have stalled.

Mikel Arteta has been vocal on Aubameyang’s situation, with the Arsenal boss urging the forward to stay.

“I’m so happy with him because as a captain he is a great example to everybody else,” Arteta said after Arsenal’s 3-2 win against Everton on Sunday, where Aubameyang netted twice.

“To work the way he works defensively, he is a very good captain.

“Other clubs are right to want him but hopefully we can convince him this is the right place for him.

“He is very much part of what we’re trying to build and he is of this mindset.”

Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness fired a warning to Arteta last weekend, insisting it’ll be tough for the Gunners to keep hold of Aubameyang.

“He is 30, he is at the top of the game and we knew he was a really good player coming here,” Souness said of Aubameyang.

“He has taken it all in his stride and scored two different goals against Everton.
