ARK Genesis release date: Latest Survival Evolved update on PS4 and Xbox One

A big ARK Survival Evolved update is going live this week, bringing with it the launch of the new ARK Genesis DLC. This was originally supposed to launch in December 2019 but was pushed back numerous times by the development team. A message from the Studio Wildcard team explains: “We know things have been a bit quiet on Genesis news for the past few weeks, even though there is much more to show you, we’ve been deeply immersed in the pre-release development process.

“This additional delay will no doubt come as a disappointment to everyone who is eagerly awaiting Genesis.

“We’re extremely sorry to push it back an extra month, but as we have been heads-down with the rest of the team polishing, balancing and putting the final pieces together, we really felt that the extra wait will be worth it both for the quality of the base game and the ambitious new expansion.”

But that final launch date has stuck and is now locked in for ARK Survival Evolved this week on all platforms.

WHEN IS ARK GENESIS COMING OUT?

ARK Survival Evolved Genesis Part 1 is coming out on Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

Studio Wildcard has warned that while ARK Genesis will be available to play this week on PS4, Xbox One and PC, it won’t be available in some regions.

The ARK dev team confirmed earlier this month: “The Asian/Japanese Genesis 1 will be delayed until March due to the increased localization required for this release.

“This will not impact our 2/25 rollout for other regions. We will keep you updated on our progress.”

Studio Wildcard has not shared its plans for what time ARK Genesis will be going live on February 25.

But from looking at how Studio Wildcard has handled launches in the past, we would expect an update from the team closer to launch day.

And if nothing is shared, we would expect the ARK Genesis DLC to be available to download by 7pm, GMT, on February 25.

There’s also a good chance that all ARK Survival Evolved players will receive an update, even if they haven’t bought the Genesis DLC.

There will probably be a few bug fixes and other changes thrown in on all platforms, and these will likely be listed in new patch notes. ARK Survival Evolved Genesis is being released in two parts, with both offering new worlds to explore.

Gamers will be able to take on new missions in-game and have the ability to tame and evolve new monsters. There will be new creatures to tame, structures to build and brand new maps and biomes to explore.

And if you pre-order the new season pass, you will also get instant access to ARK’s first character that talks, the cosmetic pet HLN A.

“Continue your quest for survival and unlock a whole new chapter in the saga of ARK: Survival Evolved with the ARK: Genesis Season Pass,” a message from Studio Wildcard explains.

“This Season Pass gives you access to two new huge expansion packs and one exclusive in-game cosmetic pet. Further the ARK storyline while adventuring through unique and diverse biomes via an all new mission-based game mechanic.

“Discover, utilize and master new creatures, new craftable items and new craftable structures, unlike anything you have seen yet.”

They will also add exclusive biomes and an all-new mission-based game mechanic as part of the first Genesis expansion pack.

“Discover and tame all-new creatures, including island-sized sea turtles, shape-shifting creatures that transform from small and cuddly to ferocious, and fireball shooting dragon-like beasts that thrive in extreme volcanic environments,” Studio Wildcard teased earlier this year,” the message adds.

“Whether you’re taming fire-breathing monsters or building your base atop an immense sea turtle, ARK: Genesis is a vast world of secrets to discover. “
