Call of Duty Modern Warfare Battle Royale release date update for PS4 and Xbox fans

The Call of Duty Battle Royale mode that leaked earlier this month could be announced as soon as this week by Activision and developers Infinity Ward. The mode itself has not been confirmed to exist yet by the team reportedly making it but there’s been plenty of information leaked that suggests it is in the works. This includes what the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare experience will be called and how it will be available to play.

Call of Duty Warzone has yet to be announced but things could start happening this week, if fans are lucky.

Earlier, reports suggested that Call of Duty Modern Warfare’s new Battle Royale mode would be launched in early March.

And barring a surprise drop from Activision, there’s a good chance that the company will reveal it before then.

That would mean a new announcement coming either this week, or in early March, both of which are entirely possible.

The only difference is that PAX East will be kicking off this week and that could provide Infinity Ward with the perfect platform to announce its new project.

Unlike other gaming giants like Rockstar Games, Activision is very at home with using big events to promote its products.

PAX East is scheduled to begin on Thursday, February 27, and we already know that Activision will be in attendance.

Game Rant reports that there will be three Call of Duty booths at the Boston event, including two listed for Modern Warfare.

However, a third one has also been spotted that is reportedly listed as just COD, and that would certainly provide plenty of wiggle room for something called Warzone.

This third COD booth is apparently linked to another vendor, which means it could just be Modern Warfare being played on newer PC hardware.

This has led to speculation that COD Warzone could be launched on Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

There are others that believe that this will be the date that Call of Duty Modern Warfare Warzone will be announced, followed by a wait for a release date in March.

The game could then be promoted during PAX East and allow people to play it in some kind of format.

However, this remains just speculation for now and is part of a larger web of leaks and rumours. Rumours of a Battle Royale mode being released for COD Modern Warfare have been doing the rounds for several months.

The latest suggests it will be called Call of Duty Warzone and will be playable on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

There have also been leaks that claim this new game mode will be free-to-play, regardless of if you own Modern Warfare, while a new classified menu option has also popped up in Modern Warfare, which looks certain to be filled by a new Battle Royale mode.

Meanwhile, Infinity Ward has provided an update on what is coming to Call of Duty Modern Warfare this week. And it is a lot more low-key than what is being suggested for the game on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

According to the dev team, a new Call of Duty playlist update is being worked on which will add a new map into the general rotation.

The message from Infinity Ward confirms: “We’ve got some 3v3 Snipers on Rust action coming your way, along with Infantry Ground War, a tweak on regular Ground War where there’s no tanks/APCs.

“We’re also adding a new map, Bazaar, into rotation And to make the weekend even better, we’ll be turning on 2XP starting Friday.”

Whatever does happen, it will be worth keeping an eye on the official Call of Duty channels over the coming weeks to see what’s being planned.
