Roger Federer: French Open chief hopeful of 2021 return after ‘wise’ knee surgery decision

“He may not win anymore as many Grand Slams as in the past, but he will be able to play easily in the top 10.

Forget then opened up about his conversation with Federer’s agent Tony Godsick and expressed his optimism that the tournament will still be a success with the 20-time Grand Slam champion.

“We are inevitably disappointed not to see Roger Federer again at Roland-Garros,” Forget said.

“I had a phone call from his agent this morning. Roger underwent a small operation yesterday for a meniscal problem. It is not a very complex operation, but he has had this in the past, like a lot of players.

“It takes several weeks to refurbish your leg, re-train and regain confidence in your shots. I guess it was a blow to him.
